Translation commentary on Jeremiah 41:12

The great pool which is in Gibeon: Gibeon was about ten kilometers (six miles) northwest of Jerusalem, and the pool is that mentioned in 2Sam 2.12-16. Archaeological evidence shows that the pool is actually a large pit, some 25 meters (82 feet) deep, which was originally used for collecting and storing water. Steps are cut in the side all the way down to the bottom, so that people could go down to get water.
