And the people of Israel set out: The conjunction And may be rendered “again” or “next” (New Living Translation) since the Israelites did not begin but resumed their journey here. For the Hebrew verb rendered set out, see verse 4 and 2.9. Here it may be translated “moved on” (Good News Bible) or “journeyed further.”
And encamped in Oboth: For encamped see 1.50. The location of Oboth is unknown, but it was probably somewhere between the Gulf of Aqaba and the Dead Sea.
