Translation commentary on Ezra 10:20 - 10:22

All the men mentioned in these verses were also priests.

Of the sons of: Revised Standard Version translates the Hebrew literally (also New Jerusalem Bible, New Jewish Publication Society’s Tanakh, Traduction œcuménique de la Bible). Good News Translation considers the person to whom the sons belong to be the clan representative. Other translations refer here to “descendants” (New International Version, New Revised Standard Version). Translators should use the appropriate expression in the receptor language for a list of this type.
