I answered and said may be rendered simply “I answered” (Good News Bible, Contemporary English Version; see the comments on verses 1-2).

Who of those that have been born can do this, that you ask me concerning these things?: With this rhetorical question Ezra complains that the angel’s questions are not fair since no human being could answer those questions. Those that have been born refers to human beings. Contemporary English Version renders this rhetorical question as strong statements, saying “Don’t ask me that! No person alive could answer those questions.”

Good News Bible may serve as a model for this verse.
