The psalm begins with the psalmist’s call to Praise the LORD (see 104.35); for Praise the LORD, O my soul, see 103.1.

In verse 2, in two parallel and synonymous lines, he expresses his own intention to praise and sing praises to Yahweh all his life. My God must often be rendered “the God I worship.” While I have being is literally “in my continuance” and may be expressed, for example, as “while I still exist,” “as long as I am here,” “as long as I have breath,” or “throughout my whole life.”
