Translation commentary on Psalm 145:15 - 145:16

These two verses are similar to 104.27-28; see comments there. The Hebrew of verse 15a is literally “The eyes of all hope on you” (as in 104.27a).

Thou openest thy hand in verse 16a is a figure of generosity; New Jerusalem Bible has “You give it openhandedly,” New English Bible “with open and bountiful hand,” and New Jerusalem Bible “with generous hand” (see the same thought in 104.28b). Every living thing in line b includes all living creatures.
