The Greek in Mark 6:17 that is translated as “bound him and put him in prison” or similar in English is translated in the German New Testament translation by Berger / Nord (publ. 1999) with gefesselt in den Kerker werfen lassen or “had him thrown into the dungeon in shackles.”
