Jesus said to his disciples:

— Once upon a time there lived a man named Daniel. He was a prophet. He wrote down a prediction that the Abomination of Desolation would be brought into the Temple, which should not be there, and so the Temple would be desolate, there would be no God there. When you see this prediction come true, you need to run away quickly. The person who reads this will understand.

I also tell you, if you see that they have brought the Abomination of Desolation into this temple, all the Jews must quickly flee to the mountains. If a person lives on the roof of his house and hears about this disaster, he should not go down to get his clothes, but quickly run away. If a person was walking in the field and heard about this disaster, he should not go back home to get his clothes, but quickly run away. And for pregnant women and nursing mothers, these days of trouble will be especially hard in winter. You pray to God that these days do not happen in winter. You all pray to God about this. I will also tell you that such a time of suffering has not been since the time when God created the world, and such suffering will not be there later, because this time of suffering will be very terrible. But God will make this time of suffering short, not long. If this time were long, then all people would perish. God made this suffering short for the sake of saving those whom He chose.

I also tell you that in these days of suffering, many false prophets, many false Messiahs will appear. People will say, “Here is the Christ… Here is the Christ…” But don’t believe them! They will perform various miracles and will seduce many people. And even those whom God has chosen, even they will sometimes be seduced. But I tell you all in advance: Be vigilant and careful!

Jesus and his disciples left the Temple. One of the disciples looked at the Temple, admired it, and said:

— Teacher, look at this Temple! It’s big, beautiful, the stones are so strong!

Jesus answered:

— Yes, the Temple is large and beautiful, but the time will come when it will be completely destroyed, not a single stone will remain intact.

Jesus went up to the Mount of Olives. The Temple was clearly visible from the Mount of Olives. Only four disciples were with Jesus: Peter, James, John, Andrew. The disciples began to ask Jesus:

— Tell us, what will be the sign that the Temple will soon be destroyed?

Jesus answered them:

— First, many people will say: “God sent me, I am Christ.” Many will teach this. But they are liars. Many people will listen to them and believe them. But you, beware! Do not believe them!

Secondly, rumors will spread that wars are happening in different places, that one kingdom is going to war against another.

Thirdly, earthquakes will occur here and there throughout the earth. Fourthly, there will be famine and various troubles throughout the earth. But do not be afraid when you look at all this, do not think that this is the end of the world. All these events are signs to be prepared. This is only the beginning of great suffering. It is like, for example, a woman, when it is time for her to give birth, she has contractions before labor. Be prepared for different people to grab you and take you to court. There, in the house of judgment, they will beat you. They will grab you and lead you before the rulers, so that you proclaim me, Jesus Christ, there. But first, all the peoples of the earth will know the Good News about me.

When you are brought to trial, do not worry about how to speak. The Spirit that is in you will explain it to you.

I also tell you that one brother will be angry with another brother because he believed in me, and he will kill him. Likewise, parents will be angry with their own children who believed in Christ, they will be angry with them and kill them. Also, children will be angry and will kill their own parents who believed in Jesus. People will hate you because you believed in Jesus.

But a person who stands firm and follows Christ, despite all the difficulties, God will save such a person and grant him eternal life.

In the temple there is a collection box. Jesus sat down at a distance from the box and began to watch as people threw their offerings into the box. People came. There were many rich people. They brought large heavy purses with money, took a full handful of money from there and threw it into the box. The rich people walked one after another. But there was one woman, a poor widow. And she had only two small coins. She took these two small coins and threw them into the box. Jesus saw this and said to the disciples:

— I tell you for sure, this poor widow just put in more than everyone else! Why? Because the other people had more money, they put only a small part of it in the box. But this poor woman had only these two coins, and she threw both into the box.

Jesus continued teaching and said:

— Beware of the scribes! They love to dress in beautiful long robes, they love for people around them to notice them, to be respected, to bow to them when they meet. They also love to take the first row when they come to the synagogue, and they also take the most honorable places at feasts. And they also love to enter the houses of poor widows and take away all their property. They love to stand in front of everyone and pray long and volubly, so that everyone around can see how they pray. I tell you, they do all this on purpose. God will then severely punish them!

Here is the Temple. There Jesus was teaching people in the courtyard. He asked his listeners this question:

— The scribes teach that Christ is a descendant of King David. I ask you: “How is this so?” Long ago, when the Spirit of God entered into David and filled him, he wrote this:

— God said to my lord:

— Sit next to me, to my right. I will throw all your enemies at your feet, and you will be in charge.

So it is written. And how, Jesus asks, could David call his distant descendant “my lord”? David was ready to submit to this lord. How is that possible?

All the people around agreed and listened with great pleasure.

A certain man, a scribe, heard how well Jesus taught the people. He also wanted to approach Jesus and ask him a question. He asked Jesus:

— We have many different commandments. And which commandment is the most important?

Jesus answered:

— We have many different commandments, and the most important of them is this: People of Israel, listen to God! Our God is only one! You must love God completely with all your thoughts, feelings and strength. This is the most important first commandment. And there is also a second, equally important: love your neighbor as yourself. These commandments are the most important.

The scribe replied:

— Teacher, you speak correctly! There are no other gods except our God. We must love God with all our heart, all our thoughts, all our strength. And yes, we must love our neighbor as ourselves. These two commandments are above all others and even sacrifices.

Jesus said to him:

— You reason correctly! You are close to the Kingdom of God.

After this event, none of the scribes dared to ask him tricky questions anymore.

Here is a group of Sadducees. They believed that a person lives, dies, but then does not rise again. A person disappears after death — and that’s it. That’s what they thought. And then one day they met Jesus and began to ask him:

— Teacher! In the Law of Moses it is clearly written that if a man married a woman and if this man died and had no children, then this man’s brother must marry the widow. The children born in this marriage will be the continuation of the name of the deceased man, to continue his line. So it is written. Let’s look at this example. One man had seven brothers. This man got married, then died, and he had no children. The second brother also married this woman, and the second brother also died, and had no children. And the third brother also married her and also died, and had no children. And so did the fourth brother, and the fifth, sixth, and finally the seventh. The woman was left a lonely widow, and after some time she also died. Then this woman will be resurrected. Then whose wife of the seven brothers will she be? After all, all seven of them were her husbands. How will that be?

Jesus answered:

— You think that a person dies and then there is no resurrection. You are mistaken! You distort what the Scripture says! You do not understand the power of God! When a person is resurrected after death, there will no longer be marriage. There, everyone will be like angels. The Scripture says that in ancient times Moses saw a burning bush, and from there God said to him: Here is Abraham, Isaac, Jacob. I am the God of each of them!

Do you really think they all died? Of course not. They all have life.

After some time, the rulers chose some people from the Pharisees and some people from among those who were supporters of King Herod. They all agreed that they would go to Jesus and ask him a tricky question in order to catch Jesus in a mistake. They came to Jesus and began to say to him:

— Teacher, we know that you are honest! You do not pander to people, to your superiors. What God requires of you, you teach. We want to ask you. The Roman Emperor requires us to pay taxes. But we serve God and bring gifts to him, don’t we? Do we still need to pay taxes to the Roman Emperor?!

Jesus realized that they were wicked and said to them:

— Why are you trying to catch me? Give me a coin.

They gave him a coin. The coin had a picture of the Roman emperor and his name written on it.

Jesus asked: Who is depicted on the coin? Whose name is written?

They answer him: The Roman Emperor.

Jesus said: Then give to the Roman emperor what he requires of you. And what God requires of you, give to God.

And they were very surprised by his answer.
