For they ranged like horses, and leaped like lambs: The connector For may be omitted. For this verse compare Exo 15.20-21; Psa 114.3-6; Isa 63.10-14; Mal 4.2. The comparisons (similes) picture the utter joy of the Israelites at being saved. They were as happy as children at play. The Good News Translation addition “let out to pasture” corresponds to nothing in the Greek, but it helps express the meaning for readers familiar with horses, at any rate. It is not necessary. In English the verb “pranced” (Good News Translation) carries the idea of moving about in a happy, carefree fashion. So also does “skipped about [or, leaped around]” in reference to lambs.

Praising thee, O Lord, who didst deliver them: Good News Translation “and praised you…” might be better rendered “as they praised you….”
