For thou didst save me from destruction: Destruction means death, as in verse 2, so this line may be rendered “because you saved me from death” (Contemporary English Version).

And rescue me from an evil plight: This means the Lord rescued the author from a situation where he was desperate. The first two lines can be reversed to good effect as follows: “You rescued me from [or, got me out of] my desperate situation. You saved my life.”

Therefore I will give thanks to thee and praise thee: This may be rendered “and so I thank you! I praise you!”

And I will bless the name of the Lord: Good News Translation “O Lord, I praise you!” will follow well on the suggestion just above. Formally it is repetitious, but the short simple sentences at the end of the verse convey an air of breathless relief from the tension of the first two lines.
