And Moses and Eleazar the priest received from them the gold: The Hebrew waw conjunction rendered And may be translated “So” (New Living Translation) or “Then” (Chewa). For Eleazar the priest, see verse 6. Some languages may have a special verb for received in this context of accepting a gift or donation. The pronoun them refers to the Israelite army officers, which some languages may need to specify (so Contemporary English Version with “the commanders”).
All wrought articles refers to the manufactured ornaments mentioned in verse 50. This phrase may be rendered “all in the form of hand-crafted articles” (similarly New Revised Standard Version).
