But offer an offering by fire, a burnt offering to the LORD: See Lev 23.8. But renders the Hebrew waw conjunction (literally “and”). Good News Translation omits this connector since there is not a strong contrast here. However, a contrastive conjunction may be necessary here to counter the possible implication that making a burnt offering contradicts the prohibition of the preceding clause (so Chewa). For the Hebrew verb rendered offer (hiqrib), see verse 2. This verb is plural in Hebrew, since the Israelites are being addressed. For offering by fire, see verse 2; for burnt offering (ʿolah in Hebrew), see verse 3. To avoid the suggestion that two offerings are in view here, an offering by fire, a burnt offering to the LORD may be rendered “a burnt offering as an offering by fire to the LORD” (similarly Good News Translation) or “a burnt offering, that is, an offering by fire to the LORD.”

Two young bulls, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old: See verse 11. These were the animals the Israelites had to offer as the burnt offering on each day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread (see verse 24).

See that they are without blemish is literally “they [the animals] shall be unblemished for you [plural].” See verse 3. New International Readers Version says “They must not have any flaws,” and Good News Translation has simply “all without any defects.”
