All this includes all the events of verses 47-56.

That the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled is slightly different from the formula used in verse 54. This is further expression of the conviction that all of the events surrounding the arrest, trial, and death of Jesus were ultimately under the control of God. Might be fulfilled is discussed at 1.22. The scriptures of the prophets is represented in Die Bibel im heutigen Deutsch by “the predictions of the prophets.” Good News Translation is an excellent model: “all this has happened in order to make come true what the prophets wrote in the Scriptures.”

All the disciples is the wording of Matthew; Mark has “all” (14.50), then adds the statement about the young man who fled away naked (14.51-52). Luke makes no mention of the disciples or anyone else leaving Jesus and running away.

Forsook translates a verb which carries the general notion of “leave” or “abandon,” in whatever sense is appropriate to the context. It is often rendered “left” (Good News Translation).

Fled translates a verb which means “ran away” or “escaped.”
