Translation commentary on Leviticus 8:36

And: in some translations (New Jerusalem Bible, New English Bible, Bible de la Pléiade, Moffatt) this verse has been set apart as a new paragraph in order to emphasize its summary character. This may also be indicated by the use of a stronger transition word such as “So…” (Good News Translation, New American Bible, New Jerusalem Bible).

By Moses: literally “by the hand of Moses.” The idea of agency is difficult to express in some languages. A wide variety of expressions are used to convey this meaning. In this context one may try “with the mouth of Moses,” or “by the lips of Moses,” or “through the words of Moses.”
