That they may yield more …: it is not simply the eating of the fruit that will result in a greater yield in the future. It is rather adherence to the entire program, including abstaining from the fruit for four years. This should probably be made explicit in most languages, as in Good News Translation “If you do all this…,” or as in New International Version “In this way your harvest will increase.”
