Translation commentary on Leviticus 19:24

Holy: this may just as well be translated “a holy gift,” “consecrated,” “dedicated,” or “set aside as belonging to God.”

An offering of praise: Revised Standard Version has added an offering of, since the traditional Hebrew text has only “praise.” But HOTTP recommends a slightly different Hebrew reading which is followed by New English Bible, “and this releases it for use.” It is noteworthy, however, that the Revised English Bible reverts to a rendering of the more generally accepted text.

To the LORD: Good News Translation rightly adjusts to the fact that this is direct discourse, and so translates “to me, the LORD.”
