When Judith had ceased crying out … ended all these words: Many translations combine ceased crying out and ended all these words into one statement, such as Good News Translation‘s “When Judith had finished her prayer….” Contemporary English Version and New English Bible are virtually the same. These two clauses describe the same action and are synonymous.
God of Israel may be rendered “God whom the people of Israel served.”
