The transition Yet marks a contrast. Even though Zedekiah will be captured, the LORD tells him he will not die in battle or be executed, but will die in peace (verse 5). Although Good News Translation does not use a transition word, many translations retain it with “Even so” (New Jerusalem Bible) or “Nevertheless” (Traduction œcuménique de la Bible).

Die by the sword is equivalent to “be put to death,” “be executed,” or “die a violent death.”
