Verses 7-8 repeat the promise of 16.14-15.

Men in verse 7 is more properly “people,” as in Good News Translation.

In verse 8 Revised Standard Version follows the text of the Septuagint, which has he in place of “I” of the Hebrew. For the ancient Hebrews the shift in pronoun was most probably not as difficult as it is for modern readers. Die Bibel im heutigen Deutsch, Bible en français courant, and New International Version maintain the third person pronoun without a note. On translational grounds, Good News Translation has the LORD refer to himself with first person pronouns (“me” and “I”) throughout the direct speech of verses 7-8.

The last part of verse 8 differs slightly from 16.15. Instead of “For I will bring them back to their own land which I gave to their fathers,” here the text is Then they shall dwell in their own land.
