As I live is translated by Good News Translation as “As surely as I am the living God.” Other versions have just “As surely as I live.” Compare “As the LORD lives” in 4.2.
Coniah is known also as Jeconiah but best as Jehoiachin (so Good News Translation). He reigned for three months in 598 B.C., then was taken prisoner to Babylonia (2Kgs 24.8-15; 2Chr 36.9-10).
Both the signet ring and the right hand symbolize authority. Zerubbabel, the grandson of Jehoiachin, is promised that he will be like a signet ring to the LORD (Hag 2.23). If the meaning of signet ring is unknown, translators can say something like “the ring that shows my authority [or, shows that I have authority]” or “the ring that shows that I rule [or, that I am king].”
