Verse 12 describes the action in response to the command given in verse 11, and in Revised Standard Version‘s literal translation repeats the entire command as now accomplished. Good News Translation reduces this to “So the earth produced all kinds of plants.” Most modern translations do not shorten and combine the details of this verse to the extent of Good News Translation. Translators wishing to retain the repetition may do so and should refer to verse 11 for the wording.
