In verses 18-19 Ezekiel returns to the description of what happened in the vision.
Then the glory of the LORD went forth from the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubim: In verse 4 God had gone to the entrance of the Temple (see the comments there). Now he moved from above the entrance (once again most translation miss the detail that he was above the entrance) and took a position over the cherubim. Apparently he stood on the dome, or platform, that they were carrying, but he did not sit on the throne on it. For the glory of the LORD, see 1.28a; for the threshold of the house, see 9.3.
A model for this verse is:
• Then the wonderful presence of Yahweh went down from above the entrance of the Temple and took up a position over the cherubim.
