Translation commentary on Acts 3:9

From the standpoint of the discourse there is a problem beginning with verse 9 in that a new set of participants is introduced who were only indirectly mentioned before, that is, at the end of verse 2. These are the persons who were going into the temple. One can translate simply “all the people there in the temple.”

In a number of languages a construction such as saw him walking must be broken up into two closely combined expressions, for example, “saw him; he was walking.”

A translation of praising God may need to be turned into an expression of direct quotation, as suggested in the previous verse.
