This verse begins with an unusual construction (literally “until when”), rendered in most translations by “when.” The Good News Translation has made this subordinate temporal clause into a coordinate clause: day was about to come. The equivalent of this clause in some languages is “it was just beginning to be light” or “the day was not far away.”
