The expression took them may be difficult to translate for he did not actually carry them away. What is perhaps better understood is “led them into another room.” In certain instances where the Good News Translation has used washed off their wounds, one may simply want “washed their wounds” in the sense of to cleanse and to take care of.
“All of his” (so literally in Greek) may be taken either as the equivalent of the jailer’s family or, in the expanded sense, of his entire “household” (Jerusalem Bible), as was the case with Lydia (v. 15).
