Told him: In certain languages it will be necessary to say clearly what the servants told Jehu when they returned. Some will supply the words “what they had found” or “about Jezebel’s body.”

This is the word of the LORD; that is, what the servants had seen was the fulfillment of what the LORD had promised (1 Kgs 21.23-24). So New Jewish Publication Society’s Tanakh says “It is just as the LORD spoke.”

The Tishbite: This detail is omitted by Good News Translation since it is a repetition of information given in the first chapter of this book (verses 3 and 8) and found also in 1 Kgs 17.1; 21.17 and 28. However, since Elijah was identified as the Tishbite way back in chapter 1, translators should probably keep this information here in chapter 9.

In the territory of Jezreel is better rendered “in the plot of ground at Jezreel.” See the comments at verse 10.
