And maintain their cause: The cause of the people of Israel is the battle in which they are involved. Maintain their cause may be rendered “come to their aid” (Bible en français courant) or “give them victory” (Good News Translation, Contemporary English Version). Parole de Vie uses a causative expression, saying “Make their cause to triumph!”
