According to Revised Standard Version and Good News Translation, the events reported in this verse follow those of verse 29. However, Moffatt takes verse 30 as a summary of previous events, and places it in parentheses.

And Hezekiah the king and the princes commanded the Levites …: The Hebrew word for princes is better rendered “leaders” (Good News Translation, God’s Word) or “officials” (Contemporary English Version, NET Bible) in this context. It does not refer to the king’s sons here. See the comments on 1 Chr 19.3 and 2 Chr 12.5.

To sing praises to the LORD with the words of David and of Asaph the seer: Asaph was a common name among the people of Israel, but because of this person’s association here with music and with David, it is almost certain that he is the one whom David appointed to oversee the musical parts of the worship in the Temple (see 1 Chr 16.7). King David and the prophet Asaph were the authors of many of the Psalms, so it is often assumed that the songs of praise here were what are known today as Psalms. Parole de Vie provides a helpful model for this clause, saying “to keep praising the LORD with the songs composed by David and the prophet Asaph.”

And they sang praises with gladness: The pronoun they refers to the Levitical singers, which Bible en français courant and Parole de Vie make explicit by rendering this clause as “The Levites sang then with joy.”

And they bowed down and worshiped: The Hebrew verb rendered bowed down is not the same one translated “bowed themselves” in the previous verse, but their meaning is similar. This verb means “to bow one’s head” (see 1 Chr 29.20). It is almost always used with the following Hebrew verb rendered worshiped (see the previous two verses) since bowing down is necessary before prostrating oneself on the ground.
