Translation commentary on 2 Chronicles 26:4

And he did what was right in the eyes of the LORD: See the comments on 2 Chr 14.2. New Century Version says “He did what the LORD said was right.” This positive evaluation of Uzziah’s reign is qualified later in verses 16-21.

According to all that his father Amaziah had done: Moffatt says “exactly as his father Amaziah had done.” New Century Version and New Jewish Publication Society’s Tanakh are very similar with “just as his father Amaziah had done.” Another model is “following the example of everything his father Amatzyahu had done” (Complete Jewish Bible). Since verse 1 states that Amaziah was the father of Uzziah, Good News Translation omits the name here for reasons of English style.

Good News Translation reverses the order of the two clauses in this verse, which other languages may find helpful.
