In this verse Paul corrects verse 14 and also adds something that he had forgotten while dictating. Revised Standard Version and Good News Bible show this by using parentheses. This extra thought of Paul must be kept in its place. Translators should not remove this personal touch of Paul by putting verse 15 after verse 16. Good News Bible‘s “Oh yes” is good English style. One could also say “Oh, I remember now!”

Household has more than the literal meaning “house.” It can mean “family” as in Good News Bible, or even include unrelated dependents who are living in the same house. But there is nothing in this verse to indicate whether or not the household or “family” included children. Some languages will need to say something like “his family members” or “those living with him.”

Revised Standard Version and Good News Bible translate the second half of the verse rather literally. Although some scholars disagree, the context suggests the slightly stronger translation “I cannot remember baptizing anyone else.” Die Bibel im heutigen Deutsch has “but otherwise, I really do not know of anyone else whom I baptized.” Also possible is “I do not know that I baptized anyone else.” The expression any one is singular. One could say “any other person.”
