The Greek that is translated as “they offered a sacrifice according to what is stated in the law of the Lord” or similar in English is translated in the German New Testament translation by Berger / Nord (publ. 1999) with man kann einen erstgeborenen Sohn nur von diesem Anspruch Gottes freikaufen… or “one can only redeem a first-born son from this claim of God… .”
