Translation commentary on Luke 14:25

Exegesis:

suneporeuonto de autō ochloi polloi ‘great crowds were travelling with him.’ The clause presumes that Jesus had resumed his travelling after the meal at the house of the Pharisee.

kai strapheis eipen pros autous ‘and turning to them he said to them.’ For strapheis cf. on 7.9. pros autous goes with strapheis and eipen.

Translation:

The implied reference to Jesus’ journey, last mentioned in 13.22, is made explicit in some versions, e.g. ‘many people followed Him on his journey’ (Tae’), ‘then Jesus went on, accompanied by a big crowd’ (Javanese).

For turned and said to cf. on 7.9.
