When I had finished speaking these words may be translated “After [or, When] I had finished praying” (Contemporary English Version) or simply “After my prayer.”
The angel who had been sent to me on the former nights was sent to me again: In many languages it will be helpful to identify the angel as “the angel Uriel” (Contemporary English Version). Who had been sent to me may be rendered “whom God had sent to me.” For the former nights, see 2 Esd 4.1; 5.31. Was sent to me again may be translated simply “appeared again” (Good News Bible).
Here is an alternative model for this verse:
• When I finished my prayer, the angel Uriel who had been sent to me [or, whom God had sent to me] on the earlier nights, appeared again.
