And let the Gentiles cower today in fear of your invincible might: To cower … in fear is to cringe (tremble) or shake with fear. Your invincible might may be translated “your tremendous power.” We may render this clause as “Make the Gentiles shake with fear today when they see your tremendous power.” We suggest putting this clause at the end of the verse (see the first model below), but it would not be wrong to keep it in Revised Standard Version‘s order.

O honored One may be expressed as “We honor you, Lord” (Contemporary English Version).

Who have power to save the nation of Jacob: The nation of Jacob refers to Israel, the Jewish people.

Here are alternative models for this verse:

• You, Lord, deserve all honor, and have the power to save us, the descendants of Jacob. Please show the Gentiles your tremendous power today. Let them [or, Make them] shake in fear.

• Please make the Gentiles tremble with fear today when they see your tremendous power. We honor you, Lord. You have the power to rescue us, the descendants of Jacob.
