Translation commentary on Jeremiah 29:20

Note that Good News Translation maintains a first person reference to the LORD throughout this verse.

The words identifying who is being addressed, all you exiles … to Babylon, follows the command to listen to the LORD. In many languages, however, this order should be reversed, as in Good News Translation or “You people who I sent away from Jerusalem to Babylonia as captives, you all should now pay attention.”

Babylon is here the country (Good News Translation “Babylonia”).
