For most of this verse, compare 27.10.

For indicates a causative relationship here. The people should not pay attention to the future-tellers (verse 8) because those people are lying when they say they have a message from the LORD.

Prophesying to you in my name: Die Bibel im heutigen Deutsch has “They claim to speak on my authority.”

The first part of the verse, which is closely tied to the previous verse, may need to be restructured, as in “Don’t pay attention to them, for when they claim to speak on my authority, they are lying. I did not send them.”
