Translation commentary on 2 Chronicles 26:7

God helped him against the Philistines: The pronoun him refers to Uzziah, which New Century Version makes explicit. The Hebrew does not state directly in what way God helped Uzziah. Good News Translation and Parola Del Signore: La Bibbia in Lingua Corrente make this explicit by adding the verb “defeat.”

And against the Arabs that dwelt in Gurbaal: For Arabs see the comments on 2 Chr 17.11. The location of the town of Gurbaal is unknown, but it was probably in Edom. Some interpreters correct the Hebrew text to read “Gur.” The town of Gur was located east of Beersheba.
