Translation commentary on Leviticus 23:11

Wave: the Hebrew verb seems to imply some kind of solemn gesture of presentation, but experts are not agreed on its exact nature. See 7.30.

Before the LORD: see 21.6.

That you may find acceptance: or “so that he [the LORD] will accept you.” See 1.3.

On the morrow after the sabbath: this phrase presents serious exegetical problems, because scholars are not certain which sabbath is intended. It may be understood as the first day of the Festival of Unleavened Bread or as the seventh day. However, it is probably best to use the ordinary word for sabbath when translating this verse.
