Translation commentary on Leviticus 16:25

Some commentators have suggested that this verse is out of place and should follow verse 19 above (compare Moffatt). But translators are advised to deal with it here.

The fat: or “the fatty parts”; see 4.8-10.

The sin offering: this clearly refers to an animal, or perhaps animals. Bible en français courant proposes the plural, since there were two that were offered, a bull in verse 3 and a goat in verse 5. The singular may give the impression that there was only one animal involved in this type of sacrifice.
